Ready, Set, Win: 5 Ways To Start 2021 With A Bang

how to reach your goals and excel in 2021

14 Jan Ready, Set, Win: 5 Ways To Start 2021 With A Bang

The author who wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” was probably an insurance agent talking about business in early January. But seriously, January represents new beginnings, the start of a new year and a new quarter, but also the return back to work after a long holiday season. It’s important to kick off the new year with a bang. The habits and goals you establish early in the year can help you shape results throughout 2021. As you transition from holiday festivities and much needed time off back to business, here are a few tips to help you make the most out of January. Check out the five things you can do this month to help you excel in 2021.

#1. Complete Unfinished Projects From 2020

Try to avoid focusing on old work in a new year. If you have unfinished projects that are still relevant from Q4, commit to wrapping them up before the end of January 2021. Before diving in, review any tasks that were not complete in December and determine if they still connect to your goals in 2021. If you have not yet taken the time to analyze your year-end KPIs and other metrics, make sure to check that off your list this month.

#2. Self Audit: Review Your 2020 Performance

To ensure success in 2021, you’ll want to start Q1 off on a good note. Similarly to completing your unfinished work, make the time to review your own performance at the start of the new year. Map out your marketing tactics, advertising strategies, sales approach and business processes. Determine what worked and what didn’t. Make notes of the strategies that help you drive conversions and fill your pipeline. Identify areas where you may have the opportunity to grow in 2021 or tactics that need to be left in 2020. Completing a self-audit in January will help you avoid wasting time on the tasks that did not help you move the needle, providing you more time in Q1 to focus on the strategies that propel your success.

#3. Update Your Online Marketing Channels

You may be leveraging multiple digital marketing channels to promote and advertise your insurance business. Check your website’s appearance and functionality on different browsers and devices to make sure everything is functioning properly. Review the graphics on your website and social media channels. Check to see if your profile images, backgrounds and other graphic elements are still relevant. Remove any old or outdated promotional offers or incentives from your marketing channels.

#4. Review Your Automated Marketing Messages & Schedules

No one wants to send out an automated email blast that contains old and outdated copy or content. Not only is it embarrassing, but it also could negatively impact your customer relationships, giving the impression that your business lacks a personal touch. To prevent this faux pas, remember to review the content and schedules of any automated messages you set up in 2020. This is also a good time to review email performance and determine if you need to make changes to email subject lines, calls to action, email distribution times or other email copy. Check in your CRM and see if you can identify any new trends or preferences that affect how your clients and prospects receive and review your messages.

#5. Look Ahead: Set Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Goals for 2021

2020 is over — it’s time to think big. Start by brainstorming all of the things you want to achieve in 2021. Step away and review your list the next day to connect your goals with strategies and tactics. Outline the steps you need to complete in order to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual goals.
